    Editorial independence

Although Teachers TV is funded by the Department for Education, it is editorially independent of government. This is a requirement of the 2003 Communications Act and Ofcom, the regulator for the UK communications industries.

To ensure the channel remains editorially independent but is also accountable for the public money it receives, a governance process has been established, managed by the Teachers TV Board of Governors.

    Teachers TV Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is responsible for:

    • Upholding the editorial independence of the channel and ensuring it delivers value for money
    • Setting targets and measuring the channel's performance against them to make sure it meets the needs of the people who work in schools
    • Supporting the strategic development of Teachers TV
    • Providing a complaints appeals process to resolve viewer issues

The Teachers TV Board of Governors can be contacted via the Board Secretariat at:

Teachers TV Board of Governors, c/o Secretariat, Area A First Floor, Mowden Hall, Staindrop Road, Darlington DL3 9BG.
