Episode 1

Part of the series Aventuras Vascas

This Spanish series aimed at students aged between 14 and 17 tracks the progress, problems and adventures of two British students, Sophie and Richard, during a fortnight spent with host families in and around Bilbao.

The series contains learning scenarios that are relevant and meaningful to the target age group, including:

The fun of trying, succeeding and sometimes failing
Overcoming difficulties in communicating
Collecting material for project work
Getting on with the locals
Coping strategies
Getting to grips with common problems in Spanish grammar and pronunciation

In this programme we meet Sophie, who is very keen on Spanish, and Richard, who is not as competent but seems keen to go to Bilbao. They find that they are staying apart from the other students in a small town called Getxo. They arrive and are given a quick tour of the town. We watch them settle in with their very different families.
