Scotland - CPD
Find out how the Scottish education system manages its CPD, and hear from two Chartered Teachers who explain how their status works for them.
In 2000, Scotland introduced a framework of standards associated with professional development. This framework gave rise to a professional development culture in which the decisions are largely taken by individuals.
The new system means that teachers get recognition for the work they have done, and the introduction of The Chartered Teacher - a master's degree involving twelve modules designed for teachers to develop CPD - aims to take teachers to a very high level.
