A look at the benefits of telemedicine - a new and fast developing healthcare that allows surgeons to perform medical operations remotely.

Even as recently as 20 years ago, the idea that an operation could be carried out by a remotely controlled robot would have seemed like science fiction. Today, it is perfectly possible.

Additionally, engineers are now working with scientists and doctors to design robotic systems that will be able to operate on patients with no human intervention at all.

In this programme, we learn more about telemedicine and find out what benefits it can provide for both doctors and patients.
