KS3/4 PSHE - Teenage Dads
Following three young fathers in Sunderland, this programme looks at what is being done to help teenage fathers, often ignored in the issue of teenage pregnancy.
An almost invisible group, they are often regarded as irresponsible young men who leave their teenage girlfriends holding the baby.
Here the three teenage fathers share their stories in a bid to shed light on what their lives are like, and how reliable support can have a profound impact on them, their children and their families.
This programme is designed for use in the classroom.

Teenage Dads19 January 2009 - 19:54Very disappointed with this short film - working in a boys secondary I thought this would be ideal for PSHE lessons but 2 of the three stories seem to, in some ways 'glorify' teenage parenthood and only one briefly comments on the reality of becoming a teenage parent.

Re : Teenage dads20 January 2009 - 15:32You seem to presume that there can be no glory in being a parent for these young people because of their age.

Lovely to watch and see19 January 2009 - 22:15Lovely to watch and see young man not afraid to share their thoughts and feelings. More of a reality check may be fair to see but it encourages young man not to shy away from responsibility.
