The USA - Global Citizenship post 9/11
A US school district leads the way in inspiring its students to look outside their own borders with innovative global citizenship lessons.
Herricks School District, New York state, has led the way in changing its citizenship practice in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, integrating a global perspective into virtually all subjects and grade levels from elementary to high school.
Pupils from the age of ten learn about global politics and the world trade network. World languages are taught alongside art, and 15-year-olds use role play to debate African economic policy.
