Watch Us Grow - at Guildford Grove
Guildford Grove Primary School has worked hard to raise standards and expectations both in and out of school.
With a strong focus on PSHE and on supporting pupils with special educational needs, the school has created a garden which is an oasis of calm to replace a previously barren tarmac playground.
The skills and determination of enterprising pupils have helped to garner community support and, in turn, empower all pupils to learn, play and feel safe throughout the day and throughout the school.

I am a teacher at a school in Birmingham and I would also like to redevelop an unused area near our school. I would like some advice on who to approach and how I would go about changing the area as it will be a very big job!

As a Head of another Surrey school, I found this an encouraging and inspiring video with helpful ideas to transform a small unused patch of land in our school. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Many thanks to Eric Pain for this kind comment. I was the Commissioning Editor on the series; I've passed your comment on to the producers. Good luck with your own garden development!

As a governor at another Surrey school I found this video an inspiration. We are embarked on a similar journey including a revamp of our school garden and pond plus improving the play facilities. This programme provides some very helpful ideas about how to carry such projects through.I was pleased to hear the connection made between the outside 'classroom' and PSHE and the wider curriculum. Congratulations to everyone involved and not least the children.
