Many people are confused about the nature of the diploma courses, the timetable, and the logistics of implementing them into the existing infrastructure of a school.

With the course content not set for release until September, School Matters takes a look at the ideas behind the diplomas; how a school can become involved in the gateway process over the next few years; and the practicalities of offering them to students.

Key figures involved in shaping and implementing the diplomas give their views and explain their role, in what has been described as being the biggest shake-up in education since the introduction of GCSEs and A levels.

    • Creative media diploma

I'm currently involved in discussions and delivery of the Creative media diploma, with educational organisations, EBP's and training providers.

Some issues involved the utilising of the DSG (Dedicated Schools Grant) towards training and equipment costs, the recently released module info, and those involved in the 2007/8 pilot phase are still getting to grips with this.

The approach I've taken in tackling this with delivery with one
partner is to use media as research and documentary tool.

The other element about entrepreneurship is also an interesting topic in terms of bringing it into the diploma and real world context.

Look forward to any addtional comments from all and will keep you posted with new information.
