STEM Career Role Models - Faye Cashman: Spacecraft Engineer
Spacecraft engineer and STEM role model, Faye Cashman, shows her million pound Mars rover robot, Bridget, to Year 9 students at Cowplain School, near Portsmouth.
Faye sets the students a challenge to see if they have what it takes to be spacecraft engineers. To land a Mars rover safely on another planet, they?ll have to build a suitable landing craft. But in their case, their precious payload is an egg.
The video also features a profile of Faye in which she gives a guided tour of her workplace, providing an insight into what it is like to work in the space industry.

Interesting, especially given that one of our KS3 themes here in St Cyres School is Rocket Science, & one of the tasks in the scheme of work is to design a Mars lander. This video will give another dimension to the theme, that of career possibilities in Space/aerospace engineering. Here in S. Wales, we have strong local associations with that industry.
