Summary
Staff at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Hastings and the nearby Helenswood Performing Arts College are followed as they go about identifying their gifted and talented pupils.
Ten per cent of pupils at every primary and secondary school are identified as gifted or talented and placed on a register. This programme looks at the provision in places for these children and at the role governors have played in implementing and monitoring the G&T programme.
Higher order thinking skills, open ended investigations, lunchtime and after school clubs are among the approaches addressing the needs of the G&T students.
At both schools, the G&T coordinators are currently undergoing lead teacher training and governors at both schools play a crucial monitoring role.

Agree what a lovely program.
Also nice to have a personal link, reminding us that the programes are about real situations, using people both young and old to tell the story.
Nice to see that the Able Gifted and Talented can be approached positively for the whole school, 'A rising tide lifts all ships' what a great way to think about it.

hello. I have been teaching English for five years in Turkey and ? am going to teach English to gifted and talented children in Science and Art Center next year. I am very interested and excited about that and I know that I have to learn more about these kids. Could anybody here help me how to approach these kids and what kind of methods or techniques I can apply to? Thank you very much.
