Literacy: Using Story Starts
Part of the series Primary ICT Whiteboard
This programme focuses on three teachers, working across Key Stages 1 and 2, using specially designed whiteboard resources to teach literacy.
Offering a visual stimulus helps to develop with a class a common experience which the teacher can build upon using a variety of techniques like role play, group work and writing.
The children are engaged and excited as the teachers bring to life the demands of the curriculum.

Hi Kent,
I am currently teaching a kindergarten class in Sydney, Australia. We have an interactive whiteboard and I am particularly interested in viewing the Story starters. I have not been able to access any of these due to the fact that I am logging in from Australia! If it is possible to attach some (or all!) of these files to an email I would really appreciate your effort.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jen Dowling

I haven't used them before, but would like to and would gladly share what we did with them.

Use of video gives greater pace to a lesson because children aren't slowed down by trying to access a narrative by having to read and decode before beginning writing.

There is so much good stuff around that teachers don't know about yet-I'm going to share this one!
I also think we learn better form each other than from "experts". After all, we're the ones at the pointy end!
