Save Money - Sustainable Schools
A look at how two schools are trying to create an eco-friendly and sustainable environment for learning, while staying within tight budgets.
Headteacher Helen Gill is on a mission to make St Mary's Primary School, Hertfordshire, a sustainable school and wants the pupils to realise their role in caring for the environment. However there are major challenges to address, including the energy-guzzling swimming pool and the old boilers.
Bridgid Nzekwu and DCSF procurement expert Claire Dicks visit St. Mary's to see if they can help the school save money while going green.
Meanwhile, a trip to Bowbridge Primary School in Nottingham reveals how "green" a school can be, with the school's pupils all on board with the green initiatives and a state-of-the-art eco-friendly new building.
