Teenage Mothers
This programme follows three pregnant teenagers as they prepare for the birth of their babies, offering a valuable insight into what life is really like for young mums.
Kevani is pregnant and in care, Adelle has found the support of her family vital in coping with the stress of having a baby, and Natalie, faced with the prospect of bringing a child into the world, has rediscovered the importance of education.
Although conception rates for the under 18s are at their lowest for 20 years, England and Wales still have the highest number of pregnancies in Western Europe, with more than 40,000 babies born to teenage mothers in 2005.
Often negatively portrayed in the press, teenage mothers regularly find themselves the brunt of society's prejudices. Behind the statistics and the stereotypes are some who cope admirably and others who struggle to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Raise Awareness25 July 2008 - 10:33
It is films like this that need to be shown to every child in school, at as early an age as possible.
Scare tactics just don't seem to work, so education has to be the way to go!

There aren't many videos29 April 2008 - 17:42
There aren't many videos shown about this subject more on safe sex in schools and with more younger girls getting pregnant it would be a good idea for more schools to start showing these types of documentaries.

Young Mums To Be30 November 2006 - 22:25
The YMTB Skills for Life Competence programme is accredited at level one by NCFE. Over 4,000 young women have attended courses nationally and 78% of those registered have achieved the qualification. Programmes like YMTB are vital if we are to improve the health and well being of young mums. Support and information during pregnancy helps mums to be more aware of health issues and gives them confidence. Baby has a better start in life and there is more chance of mum returning to education and employment.
