The Building Blocks of Matter
Dr Brian Cox explains why scientists from all over the world are swarming to the Large Hadron Collider, the world's largest particle physics laboratory.
The LHC is the biggest science experiment ever built, and the scientists using it are aiming to recreate particles from the beginning of the universe.
Cox takes us on a scientific journey from the discovery of the electron and the birth of particle physics, via the discovery of quarks, to the building of the LHC at CERN.

An excellent series delivered by one of the best communicators of Particle Physics. It is great to have another resource for teaching Rutherford's Scattering Experiment, and the link between such early work and the LHC makes it relevant and exciting.
Really enjoyed it.

Great site, Teaches.TV
Please consider an open policy when acquiring material form organizations that really impact where the world is headed (CERN for example) it's a paradox, their attitude is contributing to the Digital Divide.
I really want my kids understand what this project (LHC) is for.

it is very good experiment, becuase we will have to know everything about universe. i think it is unbelievable scientifical experimental. we will know atleast 50% of the results on lhc. god will help us. but we wont find out about jehovah mystery.

Amazing - I was teaching this topic this morning and only had an old video to show the history of atomic structure - this will definitely be a reinforcement for next lesson - Brilliant!

An amazing (literally) introduction to atomic structure told as a riveting historical story by an enthusiastic Brian Cox. It should be introduced into all relevant schemes of work!
