Part of the series Travellers in Education

In this programme about the challenges of educating traveller children, we focus on a number of resources developed to make schools more inclusive environments.

The programme investigates the negative effects of bullying and considers the need for the traveller culture to be included in the curriculum.

With evidence suggesting traveller children are a group at risk in the education system, Travellers in Education investigates new initiatives designed to tackle literacy levels and attendance.

after watching this video i still totally agree with Baroness Warnock regrding inclusion for SEN, i DO NOT FEEL THAT SHE IS SUGGESTING THAT INCUSION IS RIGHT BUT THAT IT IS NOT RIGHT FOR ALL. I have 3 children, two with Asperger's. My daughter is 14, goes to mainstream and manages with support from her friends and mentor. I feel she has benifited from manistrean enviroment and it has helped shape her future. Whereas my son who is 12 did not cope with maninstream and nearly killed himself because of his consistant failings at mainstream. He was put in a hospital school to recover than once staement issued went to a special school and is doing wonderfully. I do not feel that he is less prepared for mainsteam society because he is in special school, they work with the children to prepare them for exactly that. Children should have a choice of special or mainstream and have decisions of what is best of them. Surely that is inclusion. Mary Warnock gas took it on the chin excepting that inclusion is not best for all, I think she needs support in this backtrack and not critisim. Jacque O'Brien.
