Part of the series Using Businesses

In this programme, we examine the ways in which embarking upon a business venture at school can benefit students.

A group of Year 11 pupils from Westhaven Special School in Somerset have been assigned a project to create, market and sell a product suitable for Valetine's Day.

With the support of their teachers and a business advisor, the students - who have a range of moderate to complex learning difficulties - set up a business called Bloom-n-Pots.

Through Young Enterprise the school has been partnered with local business advisor, Tony Smith, who gives up his spare time to advise the young entrepreneurs on how to run their business.

We follow the manufacturing process at the school, drop in on a board meeting held by the pupils, and finally watch as the students sell their products at a garden centre.
